Sharptop Arts Association Gallery Now Open Showing Member Gallery Art3/7/2010 - Are you searching for that one of a kind gift for the person in your life that already seems to have everything? Then you need to check out Sharptop Art Center in downtown Jasper. The Gallery currently boasts a variety of original 2-D, sculptural and functional artworks for sale by 16 local artists. Sharptop Arts Association has recently spruced up our main gallery with a new paint job and decor to display our art in an attractive, easy to view format. Artists with work for sale this month include: Sharon Albert, Bill Boggs, Dee Boggus, Jeanette Bottari, Cindy Brown, Barbara Chatham, Maggie Corder, Melinda Crider, Billy Evans, Jaci Evans, Donna Garrison, Billy McCalister, Ellen Minion, Lisa Schnellinger, Nannette Sessing, and Janet K. Smith. In addition, SAA is now accepting major credit cards as a form of payment.
Sharptop Art Center is located on 68 D. B. Carroll Street (the road between the Old Jail and Jasper Banking Company.) After the four way stop, look on the right for the white building with a porch. We are open on Thursday s and Friday s from noon to 4:00 pm and on Saturday s from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. In April we plan to extend our hours to Sunday from noon to 4:00 pm.

Basic Photography by instructors Gail Stewart and George Bradfield, March 9 and 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, cost $85.00. Instructors Gail Stewart and George Bradfield will cover topics including camera functions, your camera manual, auto or manual modes, exposure and lighting, what additional equipment does and what you may need.
Basket Weaving by instructor Barbara Chatham, March 23 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, cost $45.00. Instructor Barbara Chatham will guide you through making a reed napkin basket while teaching you about the history of baskets and the materials and tools that are used in basket making. Students will leave the class with a finished basket.
Artist Resume/Biography Workshop by instructor Jennifer Julian, March 21 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, cost $65.00. Instructor Jennifer Julian will discuss in depth what makes an effective artist resume and biography, provide individual critiques on how to make what you have already done better, and she will help you start the process if you haven't yet created these documents. Bring a list of all your photography and art experience to the workshop.
Artist Statement Workshop by instructor Jennifer Julian, March 28 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, cost $65.00. Instructor Jennifer Julian will discuss in depth what makes an effective artist statement, provide individual critiques on how to make what you have already done better, or she will help you start the process if you haven't yet created this document. Be prepared to write down your thoughts, inspirations and feelings about your work.
Creative Writing Workshop by Maria Boling, March 20, from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm, cost $40.00, bring lunch for a picnic! Sponsored by the Sassafras Literary Exchange, limited seating.
