During the selection process, such factors as student grades, attendance and class performance along with charter, leadership potential, personal goals and enthusiasm for technical education are considered when nominating a GOAL student.

The Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction honors the Technical College System of Georgia’s most outstanding instructors. Formerly known as the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence, the Rick Perkins Award is presented each year to an outstanding educator in technical education who displays innovative instructional techniques and who is involved in institutional and community activities. The Rick Perkins Award recipient serves as an ambassador for technical education throughout the state.
Both the GOAL and Rick Perkins semi-finalist will participate in an additional screening process to select the final winner that will represent Chattahoochee Technical College during the state competition. Congratulations to all of the semi-finalists on a job well done.
