First Bitter Bash to raise funds for Red Cross - Anti-Valentine's Day event will be fun for singles and couples

2/8/2010 - KnowPickens.com announces the 1st Annual Bitter Bash - an anti-Valentine party on February 12th at 8 p.m. at Fireside Café & Pub in Marble Hill. KnowPickens.com owner, Mari Livsey, enlisted social coordinator and friend, Terri Chastain to help plan the event. The idea was to have an affordable social event as well as a fundraiser for the Northeast Chapter of the American Red Cross where Livsey serves as a Board Member. Richard Dickey, owner of Fireside Café & Pub, enthusiastically jumped aboard offering the use of Fireside and drink specials where 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross. There is no charge for the event, but there will be a cash bar and other fundraising activities throughout the evening.
Why an anti- Valentine's day party? According to Livsey and Chastain, it made perfect sense. Typically, Valentine's Day is a day for lovers and couples. It is a day of industry for companies to make money off candy sales, flowers, jewelry, etc.. Livsey's thoughts were to have an anti-Valentine's celebration instead so that single people, bitter people or anyone who doesn't buy into that corporate commercial Valentine's Day nonsense can have fun too. "An Anti-Valentine's day party is a fun way to put a different spin the Valentine's Day lovey dovey couples, big business, and even the idea that we need to be in a relationship to be happy", says Livsey. "It is about having fun being independent, confident and single. Even if you aren't single or angry at anyone, an Anti-Valentine's theme is a lot of fun! And it is a great way to raise money for the Red Cross".
Join Mari, Richard and Terri as they sing Broken Hearted Karaoke and dance the night away with DJ Big Daddy spinning today's popular dance music. Also, don't miss the crowning of the Belle of the Ball from the Chamber of Commerce Winter Ball. Proceeds from the purchase of a Bitter Remedy or Meanie Mari drink will support the people in Pickens County in time of disaster. Please be responsible and bring a designated driver. Designated drivers always eat for free at Fireside.
